Mazda Museum Launch
November 29, 2006 | Tags: work, museum, mazda, launch, projectsThe Mazda Museum has gone live! It's a Flash-driven site that showcases images of past and present production and concept vehicles.
The Mazda Museum features innovative and intelligent functionality for the management and loading of images and sections. It uses a central approach to controlling every item's state.
The site also contains queuing systems for both animation and external file loading. In the "History of Mazda" section, the files are loaded in the background unless the user clicks on the timeline to view an image that has not yet been loaded. If this happens, the site will pause the download queue to download the requested image. Upon the completion of that image, queue will be resumed and the requested image will be displayed.
The enhanced management of objects within Flash led to a flexible, maintainable site that generated fewer bugs than any site of its size.
The concepts I developed while working on this project might be open-sourced in the future. However, it will take time to rebuild minimal versions of the pieces that are suitable for release.
